What's Up Daquiris, bag switcheroos + What's Up, Doc? (U)

What's Up Daquiris, bag switcheroos + What's Up, Doc?

Much like Peter Bogdanovich's film, on Friday 17 July we'll be paying homage to the screwball comedy genre, with a special event and screening of a slight outlier in our Screwball Summer: What's Up, Doc? With this film, which was released much later than the other features included in our season, Bogdanovich matches his idols, fashioning a screwball comedy that's just as fun, charming, and astonishing as the originals of the 40s and 50s.

Prior to the screening, we'll host a members-only cocktail hour where 'What's Up Daquiris' will be served up. But the drinks won't be the only thing to get shaken up, as there's sure to be some classic comedy confusion and screwball scrambling in the Atrium Bar. All we'll say about this: keep an eye on your bags!*

Tickets for this event are available to members only, and are £18.50 each. They will include a complimentary daquiri (or non-alcoholic alternative), access to the ruckus in the bar, and an allocated seat for the screening. They are restricted to 2 per member, meaning you can bring a friend along for the shenanigans.

Event timings:

19:00  Doors open

19:30  Bag switcheroos & "What's Up Daquiris" in the Atrium Bar

20:30  Screening of What's Up, Doc?

22:25  Expected finish

About the film:

On a trip to San Francisco to compete for a music grant, a young researcher (Ryan O'Neal) meets a zany college dropout (Barbra Streisand). Their unpredictable and wacky relationship adds to the antics of the film when four identical plaid bags go missing with valuable contents in them.

* Please note, your personal belongings will not be interfered with as part of this event.
