Pineapple cocktails, live music + Chungking Express (18)

Pineapple cocktails, live music + Chungking Express

To launch our new season, Hong Kong Golden Age 1985-1997, we're delighted to welcome members for the opening screening of Chungking Express. To add to the fun, we'll be joined by Hong Kong-born English musician Emmy the Great (aka Emma-Lee Moss), who will not only put on a live performance of music sets inspired by Wong Kar-wai’s work, but will also be selling & signing copies of her acclaimed memoir My Cantopop Nights, which reflects extensively on Hong Kong popular music culture.

The selected film, Wong Kar-wai’s dreamlike Chungking Express, not only serves as a document of 90s Hong Kong, but also exemplifies Wong’s pioneering use of popular music, featuring Cantopop legend Faye Wong in a career-defining performance. Pineapple features as an iconic motif in this beloved film, so to ensure you won't go thirsty, a complimentary pineapple cocktail will be included in your ticket. If you'd like to get truly in character for the evening, outfits inspired by the film are warmly encouraged.

Tickets will be restricted to 2 per member, meaning you can bring a guest along, and are available for £18.50 each. They include a complimentary pineapple cocktail (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), access to the live music performance, and an unallocated seat for the screening.
