Site&Sound 10: Belonging Across Borders

Site&Sound is an event series that explores the relationship between architecture and film. Each session will feature curated clips and short films around a chosen theme, inviting discussion around particular elements of representation and the different techniques employed by filmmakers. Themes will examine a multitude of perspectives on architecture, ranging from varying building types to their individual component parts and how these are interpreted by the viewer as they see the world through the lens of the built environment.

As part of the London Festival of Architecture, Site&Sound has partnered with the Ennesimo Film Festival – presenters of the Contemporary Design Film Awards (CDFA) – for a special evening at The Garden Cinema. This programme brings together three award-winning and shortlisted works for a special screening, which includes The Ice Builder, Jubilee Pools, and Leopold’s Sacred Heart. The event continues Site&Sound’s established approach of blending film, architecture and discussion into a single evening.

Responding to the festival’s theme of Belonging, the event invites diverse voices and perspectives to meet through the shared language of cinema. Each film reflects on how environments are shaped, inhabited and remembered, revealing the ways design can influence a sense of identity and impact the surrounding communities therein. Together, they form a dialogue across cultures and disciplines, using film as an international medium through which audiences can gather, reflect and connect.
