Bar Shorts is very excited to present an evening of shorts curated by Nag Vladermersky. Nag is the founder and curator of The London International Animation Festival (LIAF) - the UK's largest and longest-running animation festival. Every year, LIAF brings hundreds of films from across the globe to five venues around London, packed into 10 days and nights of screenings, workshops, Q&As, and masterclasses led by some of the world’s top animators.
It launched back in 2003. After a few years of globe-trotting and soaking up animation festivals (and making his own indie short films along the way), Nag headed home to London with a spark of an idea. Inspired by all the mind-blowing short animations he’d discovered across Europe, he decided it was high time London audiences got a taste too. So he put together a little weekend of screenings at the now-closed The Other Cinema in Soho—and just like that, something special started to take shape. From day one, it was proudly DIY—an ethos Nag still lives by: make it up as you go, keep things creative, and most importantly, have fun with it.
So this is going to be a very special Bar Shorts. Nag is taking a trip down memory lane—sharing the story of LIAF and revisiting some of those delightfully weird and wonderful films that have stuck with him (and audiences) over the years. It’s a celebration of short-form animation in all its wild, imaginative, mind-bending glory.
Full list of films will be posted shortly.
