Jeff Goldblum stars as the gifted yet tragic scientist Seth Brundle in David Cronenberg's hi-tech remake of the classic 1950's sci-fi. When Seth makes a huge scientific and technological breakthrough in teleportation, he decides to test it on himself. Unbeknownst to him, a common housefly manages to get inside the device and the two become one.
A commercial breakthrough for Cronenberg, The Fly nevertheless retains his singular obsessions with technology and abject flesh. The result is a thrill-ride with suprising empathy and depth.
